Coach Certification Meeting

The Coach Certification and CYO Philosophy Meeting is required for all coaches and coordinators. It will take place on Thursday, March 4, 2010 in the Parish Hall at Christ the King Church, 199 Brandon Rd., Pleasant Hill. Registration begins at 6:30pm.

Coaches must bring identification and their Shield the Vulnerable (see next item) completion certificate in order to be certified.

Safe Environment Training for Coaches and Coordinators

To be certified for the 2010 track season, all coaches and coordinators must have taken an appropriate Shield the Vulnerable course since July 1, 2009.

Coaches taking the course for the first time must take the basic course (703) Recognize, Report & Prevent Child Abuse.

Those who previously took the 703 course can either repeat the 703 course or take one of the other courses. The 800 level courses are meant for adults and the 900 courses are meant for teens or grade school students. Coaches under 18 can initially take the Teen Safety course without completing 703.

The charge for the course remains at $5. Once a coach competes a course this year, they can take any of the other courses this year at no charge.

Parish Coordinators are strongly encouraged to take course 825, Recognizing Predators, since they select coaches and supervise volunteers.
