CTK CYO Track & Field

Update - 03/18/2021

Unfortunately, our 2021 track season has been officially cancelled.  Please see the message below from our CYO Director, Bill Ford.  We look forward to running with you in 2022!  Stay safe and healthy!  We miss you!

Message From CYO Director, Bill Ford

We are sad to announce that we will not be able to proceed with the 2021 CYO Track and Field season.
After consultation with the CYO Track Section Coordinators, we are unable at this time to safely gather the number of athletes, meet officials, coaches and families necessary to successfully conduct our meets. The necessity to limit our attendance would create problems with safe supervision, particularly of younger children, and limit the availability of meet volunteers.  In addition, with high schools running all of their sports in a compressed spring season, the availability of track facilities for practices and meets will be prohibitively limited for a season.

As it is clear that the pandemic is now easing, we have scheduled CYO sports to reopen again this fall.  The first sport scheduled is track's “sister sport", CYO Cross Country.  Practices for CYO XC may begin on August 15 with the first meet on Friday, September 17.  Check out the CYO Website (oaklandcyo.org) for a calendar of CYO sports and other information for next school year, including 2022 CYO Track and Field.

We all share frustration as the pandemic continues but hopefully will end soon.  Please continue prayers for those who have been affected, especially prayers for those who have lost their lives and prayers for our young people. We pray for those who are bravely carrying us through this time.

The CYO Track Section Coordinators and I look forward to continue working with you next school year for fun and safe CYO seasons!

Bill Ford, CYO Director
Catholic Youth Organization
Diocese of Oakland

Welcome! We are a CYO track program for all 2nd through 8th grade athletes in the Pleasant Hill / Martinez / Walnut Creek area. No church affiliation is necessary. We compete in the Diablo Valley Catholic League, which is Section 1 of the Oakland Diocese. Our team is sponsored by the Christ the King, St. Catherine, and St. Stephen parishes. Elementary and middle-school athletes living within the boundaries of the three parishes are eligible to participate on our team as are students (including religious education students) at any of the three parish schools.

Our practice season typically begins in February, and meets take place on Saturdays from March through early May. Signups are typically held in January.
